Zoom-Zoom Drive - A quick paced drive on some of Pennsylvania's miles of rural 2 lanes Take your MX-5 Miata on some of our rolling 2 lane and get a chance to utilize its nimble handling. This drive will take you north of the Lancaster area to Pennsylvania's "Coal Regions". Tour some of the areas of our state when King Coal was dug out of the mountains and helped fuel America's industrial revolution. Many of the towns are now in decline because of waning demand for the hard coal known as Anthracite, but the remains of some of the mining activity are still present. Enjoy the great twisties and the scenery on this extensive drive. Plan on spending approximately 5 hours behind the wheel of your favorite roadster.
Nissley/Moondancer Winery Tour with Lunch
Meander thru the Lancaster countryside taking in many sites including Amish Farms, Schoolhouses, Workhorses and Buggies, while twisting and turning on backroads to Nissley Vineyards for a Winery Tour and Tasting. Then continue across the Historic Wrightsville/Columbia Bridge into York County and more beautiful Pennsylvania countryside, to the Moondancer Winery for another Tasting Treat and Lunch. A charge of $15 for lunch, served on the patio of a stunning Tuscan Villa or inside depending on weather. Yuengling Brewery Tour & Lunch Tour the Yuengling Brewery in operation since 1831 and home of Yuengling Lager, the local favorite in our area.The drive leaves the Eden at 8:30AM and will return around 3:30 PM. This drive will leave the hotel at 8:45AM and arrive at the Harley-Davidson plant for a 10:00AM tour. The tour will take about 1 hour. At the Vaughn L. Beals Tour Center, you'll explore exhibits that detail the plant's history, guide you through the manufacturing and assembly processes and highlight the Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO). You'll also have the chance to sit on current production motorcycles and visit the gift shop for tour-related souvenirs Your journey begins with an introductory movie and continues on the factory floor where you'll get a behind-the-scenes look at the people, processes and products of York Vehicle Operations. You'll be guided through various manufacturing and assembly areas, watch as parts are formed, welded, machined and polished, and see freshly painted and chrome plated parts. After the plant tour the group will take a short drive to a local Mazda dealership for lunch. Return to the Eden should be around 1:30PM
Valley Forge Drive The guided drive to Valley Forge National Park will be an approximately 4-1/2 hour trip, with stops at the Museum and at Washington’s Headquarters included in that time. This drive goes through beautiful Lancaster County and Chester County, arriving at Valley Forge for a slow-paced drive through the park. You will see the cabins the soldiers lived in during their encampment in the Winter of 1777-1778 and also monuments to those who served. If you want to walk around the park and study it in more detail, you might want to do this as a self-guided drive. We will pass the Shady Maple Smorgasbord complex on the way back to the hotel if you want to enjoy a meal and some shopping there. Susquehanna River Drive w/Lunch Join us for a casual drive that will meander through the back roads of Lancaster and York counties following along the banks of the Susquehanna River. We will stop at several scenic overlooks and enjoy views of the rolling countryside. The drive will make a stop at a local Mazda dealer where we will have lunch. The drive will leave the hotel promptly at 8:30AM and should return to the Eden Resort around 1:30PM. Smith's Cheesesteak Run - Beer and Late Lunch
This drive will take you on Lancaster County back roads and end at Smith's Hotel where you can order a delicious cheesesteak sandwich and a beer if you like. Take note that Smith's accepts only CASH. Intercourse Drive with Dinner at Stoltzfus Farm Restaurant Leaving the Eden resort at 3:30pm on Friday, we will meander thru about 12 miles of Amish countryside to a store and factory where traditional Amish jar goods are made and sold. “At Intercourse Canning Company” we will have a 30 minute stop to see and buy the different Amish foods packed in jars, and to taste the many samples on display. After this stop we will head east about a quarter of a mile to “Stoltzfus Farm Restaurant”. It is an old farmhouse turned into an excellent sit down, family style, all you can eat restaurant. From the appetizers, the entrees, the sides, & to the desserts, everything is made like traditional Amish foods. This works out to about $14.00 for the meal, a $2.00 tip, and PA taxes. A great deal for what you can get. After the meal we will head directly back to the Eden Resort on Route 230, the Old Philadelphia Pike. If all goes well, we should be back well before 6:30 so you will have the evening open to do as you please. Shady Maple Country Drive with Dinner Leaving the Eden resort at 3:30pm on Saturday, we will meander thru about 12 miles of Amish countryside to a store and factory where traditional Amish jar goods are made and sold. “At Intercourse Canning Company” we will have a 30 minute stop to see and buy the different Amish foods packed in jars, and to taste the many samples on display. After this stop we will drive about 10 miles towards New Holland and Blue Ball to the famous “Shady Maple Smorgasbord Restaurant”. They have 2 Buffet lines advertised to be over 50’ long each.

If you are 60 and over this works out to $15.85 for all you can eat, plus a $2.00 tip and taxes. (The meal is free if it is on your Birthday!) Note there is a cafeteria in the lower level which serves foods lesser priced. The options are all yours. They have entrees, soup, salad, taco, and a potato bar too. After the meal we will head directly back to the Eden Resort on Route 23, the New Holland Pike. If all goes well, we should be back well before 7:00 so you will have time to prepare for the evening events. |
